Terveystalo: Logistics analysis

The project aimed at creating an overview of the costs generated by the different units’ medical supply procurement and other logistics measures in relation to working time and capital employed, for example. In addition, it sought to pinpoint the areas in which the future development work should be targeted.

The project covered four sample units whose logistics processes were examined step-by-step from the ordering of the supplies to their reception, storage and use. The different operations (surgery, reception, imaging and laboratory) were separately analysed. Of the various product groups, the study concentrated on office supplies, disposable products, pharmaceuticals and other products.

The project resulted in a comprehensive description of the current situation and a proposals for an action plan. The actions were categorised under three themes and prioritised based on the forecasted benefits and the ease of implementation. Impacts of future growth scenarios on the recommendations were also analysed in the project
